Valle d'Aosta - Courmayeur-charme Valdôtaine
The Val d'Aosta, wedged between Europe's highest mountain ranges, combines the typical Italian charm with "Grand Ski" at its best. From our comfortable and strategically convenient hotel with sauna near Courmayeur we have endless possibilities for a week of lovely off piste descents. This programme is designed for the advanced off piste skier.
The ski resort of Courmayeur offers varied slopes in open ground and in the forest, unmatched by heavy snowfall. The rugged south side of Mont Blanc makes an impressive setting over the slopes of Courmayeur.
Hotel with wellness
The hotel, with stunning views and comfortable lounge with fireplace and sauna, is located right next to the lift to Pointe Helbronner (3559m), which provides access to Vallée Blanche, Toula Glacier, Col d'Entrèves etc. These are long, often steep glacier slopes in the middle of the Mont Blanc massif with its beautiful ocher granite walls. Elevation of 3000m per run are no exception. This is what they call 'du Grand Ski "in this French-speaking part of Italy! Sturdy ski legs and good stability are necessary for this.
The Val d'Aosta is well known for its excellent cuisine and there is an abundance of cozy restaurants on the slopes.
A day to the area of La Thuile, connected to La Rosiere in France on the way of the Petit St Bernard Pass, is absolutely worth it as a day heli skiing on the slopes of the Ruitor above St. Foye-Tarentaise or in Valgrisenche. The possibilities are endless in this relatively unknown area south of Chamonix and connected through the Mont Blanc tunnel. A day of skiing on the Grands Montets is also an option!
This trip is interesting for those who were previously in Chamonix, Engelberg, Andermatt or La Grave. There are both high altitude glaciers and beautiful forests and in good conditions, we will certainly take a 'couloir' or two before we end up in a typical Italian restaurant. Under good conditions and the right group heliskiing can be a possibility.
The hotel serves a great breakfast and we go every night out for dinner in the surrounding restaurants where we will tast the many 'Specialities Valdôtaines' and wines. The locals of the Aosta Valley are very friendly and charming, it is a pleasant place to stay.
