10 of the highest Swiss peaks in one week!
On the border between Switzerland and Italy, a number of high altitude snow and ice peaks are located challenging side by side. In 5 days time you can climb about 8-10 4,000 meter peaks! This program is intended for climbers with previous high altitude experience and very good cramponing and climbing technique. Rock climbing experience is required for the climb of the Pollux. Max 2 guests per guide.
This tour is gradual in height adjustment, but we recommend that you'll acclimatize a few days before the tour starts.
The meeting point is in the Mattertal near Zermatt where you can park for free at the hotel (or arrive by train at the railwaystation at only a couple of 100 meters from the hotel) and an excellent 4 course dinner is awaiting you. You'll stay the night in modern 4-person dorms with private shower and toilet. The next morning we will take the hotel taxi bus to Zermatt. We hike through the center of Zermatt and take the lift to Klein Matterhorn (3883m) and start the climb of the Breithorn (4164m) with a descend to de Rifugio Guide Val d’Ayas (3420m).
The next day we climb the Pollux (4092m) and Castor (4228m) via a spectacular snow ridge. Overnight at the Sellahut (3585m). On our way to the modern Mantovahut (3401m) via the steep Passo del Naso (4100m) we can catch the Balmenhorn (4167m) and Vincent Pyramide (4245m). Corno Nero (4231m), Ludwigshöhe (4341m) and Parrotspitze (4432m) follow the day after, after which we install ourselves in Europe's highest hut, Margherita hut on the Signalkuppe or Punta Gnifetti (4554m). It is a special experience to stay overnight in this very high and remote place. (In case of bad weather, we will descend to Monte Rosahut to stay overnight.)
As a dessert we add the Zumsteinspitze (4563m) the following day, followed by a the long descent over the glacier with suspension bridges, ice and ladders and back up to the road that ends at Rotenboden where we take the Gornergrat train to Zermatt. A really great end to a great week!
Overnight and dinner in the valley. We stay in Italian and Swiss mountain huts and 2x in a hotel.
