Skitouring
Ski touring is indisputably one of the finest mountain sports. Armed with touring skis and skins you will visit a high-alpine environment which usually remains inaccessible for most skiers. Valleys far from the crowd, one with the silent high alpine nature. And after a challenging climb on the skins, the descent through the virgin powder is the best reward. We try to avoid the lift and ski areas and use our own strength to traverse mountain ranges from hut to hut or to make day trips from a comfortable accommodation in the valley. If you've never skitoured before, please first part in our piste to powder course or skitouring course.
This list is an indication of what we offer. If you want to make sure if there are still free places in a given trip, call or mail the booking office in Switzerland. Our programs can also be organised for families and private groups. Freeride & Safety Training
It's a dream of many skier. Off the beaten tracks, discover new places, preferably far away from the crowded slopes. Powder Skiing, tree skiing, glacier descents, skitouring ... Some knowledge, technique and experience in all types of snow are required to enjoy off piste skiing / freeriding and skitouring. During these training weeks, you will learn the basics of off piste skiing and / or ski touring in unprepared terrain under the guidance of an experienced, IFMGA certified mountain- and ski guide.
These popular weeks are designed for good piste skiers who want to learn /improve their off-piste skiing- and / or touringskills. But skiers who have previously participated in a similar program, do not stop learning in the varied, challenging terrain around Chamonix. During these weeks, the emphasis is on 'learning by doing', freeriding and / or ski touring in a relaxed atmosphere, while (avalanche) safety skills are trained as well.
The Piste to Powder courses are designed for experienced piste skiers (who can descent black runs safely and monitored) who want to improve their ski technique off piste. Off piste experience may be of advantage, but not necessary in order to participate. The freeride course is designed for participants who previously dicovered freeriding with or without a mountain guide but are not quite sure of themselves and like to improve their skills. Occasionally, in order to reach the most beautiful descents, we use our climbing skins. For skiers with off piste experience who want to learn ski touring, we have developed the skitouring course.
