Skitouring introduction day clinic

Ski touring is undoubtedly the key to skiing the best secret virgin descends. Armed with tour/freeride bindings, climbing skins and the right avalanche equipment, you can discover and ski the best hidden gems the mountains have to offer. 

This introduction into skitouring, lead by an experienced internationally IFMGA certified mountain- and skiguide, will offer you a first experience into skitouring. You will learn essential ski touring techniques as how to fix and take off the skins, the different kinds of bindings and how to perform kick turns on steeper terrain. Off course some basic avalanche skills will be trained as well in theory (safety video) as in practice (avalanche safety training outdoors). 

This clinic is especially designed for advanced skiers with off piste experience, being able to safely descend in all kinds of snow and terrain.

This clinic is based from Finhaut-Emosson, which is strategically located in the Vallée du Trient in between Chamonix (F) and Martigny (CH) with great skitouring terrain featuring stunning views around Emosson lake and dam. In case we can not ski from the chalet, we will use the lifts in one of the the small skiresorts of Vallorcine or les Marécottes, reknown for their extensive freeride possibilities. 

Programme

08:30 Welcome at our basecamp, the Bekker Mountain Chalet in Finhaut-Emosson. Guests travelling by train will be picked up at the railwaystation of Finhaut (www.sbb.ch). For those who travel by car, there are multiple parking possibilities on-site

08:30-09:30 Briefing with welcome coffee/tea and croissant, safety video and avalanche safety theory

09:30-10:30 Distribution of the ski's and safety gear, avalanche safety exercise

11:00 - 16:00 Skitour. For lunch you need to bring your own picnic and drinks (hot and cold, 1 ltr.)

16:00 - 17:00 Back to the chalet and wrap-up.
