Small Ski Haute Route Verbier-Zermatt
The famous Ski Haute Route is pretty much the ultimate skitouring itinery for very fit and experienced ski tourers. The classic version is going from Chamonix to Zermatt, but the first days are rather long and high (acclimatization!), with a tricky abseil passage and an additional transfer. Is however your ski touring experience rather limited, but you'd like to do the most beautiful passages of the Haute Route all the way to the foot of the Matterhorn? Then choose the 100% Swiss version from Verbier to Zermatt. The route is mostly along the trail of the legendary Patrouille des Glaciers and the program provides sufficient acclimatization and training in ski touring, making this program available to the super fit technically good skier without extensive ski touring experience.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Challenging itinerary with acclimatization and skitouring training
- All transfers are included. In Tasch near Zermatt, you will find your own clean socks and comfortable trainers
- Possibility to book additional nights in Zermatt - your luggage will be sent to Zermatt
- Highlights of the legendary Patrouille des Glaciers
This difficult journey takes us on an altitude between 2000 and 4000m, passing famous four thousand meter peaks including the Matterhorn.
We choose the 100% Swiss version from Verbier to Zermatt. But before we set off, we first follow a training in the French-Swiss border region of the Vallée du Trient. This valley is rugged and quiet with superb ski touring routes starting from the backyard of our own Bekker Chalet. We immediately take the opportunity to do an extensive snow safety training.
Then our minivan brings you to le Châble, from which the lift takes us to the ski domain of Verbier. Here we can make the best of our day with some amazing freeride runs. At the end of the day, we'll stay in the comfortable Cabane du Mont Fort with stunning views. The next morning we get up early and we leave for our Haute Route. We stay consecutively in the huts of Prafleuri, Dix and Vignettes and reach on skis our destination Zermatt. Every day we ski about 5-7 hours (up- and down) with an average of 1'000 altitude meters of skinning.
A flexible attitude is required in respect of the program, as circumstances may occur that we need to adjust the program. But that's our specialty, we know the area well and always look for a suitable alternative.
