Winter 2016-2017 couldn't start any better. Several snow showers last week have covered the Alps with a perfect layer of fresh powder cover. An exceptional start of season, especially for early November! Yesterday, after the necessary snow shoveling and office tasks, some time was left for a small skitour in winter wonderland.

It's been a nice summer with private guiding, which started pretty quick after the last skiprogram to Norway and Sweden. It then became very busy for us, after a Mont Blanc week, with the stage from Bern to Finhaut-Emosson passing in front of the Bekkerchalet. We are talking cycling of course, the Tour de France. What a day that was, July 20. Edward rode the stage himself from Bern to Finhaut ahead of the peloton in the very early morning with a group of 40 enthusiastic riders from near Bern.

Long time no updates, but we were busy skiing and taking care of dozens of happy guests. Although winter has started late this year, since the first snowflakes fell down, we've been skiing and boarding powder almost every single day. Sometimes it needed some creativity and Edward's sense of finding good snow, but that's exactly what we are good at. Below a little glimpse of last weeks.

In almost spring-like conditions our powderhunters to the powderhound skisafari have skied last week every day their dose of beautiful powder snow. Thanks to mountainguide Edward who has again proven is his hunter nose for the best snow there is in the region.

Last Friday our mountainguide Nico took our guests to the legendary Vallée Blanche in Chamonix. Almost 3000 vertical meters in one backcountry skiing descent, all the way from Aiguille du Midi (3842m) to Chamonix (1035m). As you can see, our freeriders had a blast. Beautiful snow conditions with powder and no crowds. Pictures by © Nicolas Defretin.

Is it Japan? Is it Canada? No it's just around the corner from Bekker's skiers Chalet at les Marecottes! Bingo for those lucky skiers at our freeride training weekend in the Swiss Alps and Chamonix!

All of a sudden it's real good skiing in the Haute Savoie with Chamonix and the Bas Valais with Verbier, les Marecottes and more little areas that rock! Some pictures of backcountry skiing at les Grands Montets today, nice powder and not busy. More snow in the forecast.
